Started by Dr. Jones, Paul Orlow, and other students at North Georgia College in 1991. Our current membership spans North Georgia from Canton to Comella and Helen to Atlanta. Our expertise ranges from telescope-less beginners to an astrophysicist. Everybody with an interest in astronomy and a desire to learn is welcome.
MEETINGS:
Meetings are the second Friday of every month at the observatory. or as noted in the newsletter and web page.
OBSERVING SESSIONS:
Monthly observing sessions are scheduled to take advantage of unique astronomical events such as: the comet crash into Jupiter, Saturns ring plane crossing, lunar and Solar eclipses. Other observing sessions are are arranged around moonless nights to see faint deep sky objects.
NEWSLETTER:
Members receive a monthly newsletter. The newsletter has reports of the previous month's club events, information on upcoming club events, alerts and maps of predicted sky events, and a swap shop section.
MEMBER DISCOUNTS:
Members receive discounts on books magazines and astronomical accessories.
